If you start with a distribution, and you spend substantial time fixing it, or learning where to get those multi-media packages from off shore, then you more than probably going to look superficially, rather then carefully, at evaluating other packages.
So, there are those who fall into the trap of heaping criticism on another distributions because they are too familiar with the one they use, or they are time constrained.
I also have this comment. The one distribution you chose should be able to support Gnome, KDE, and function as well as a server for mail, web or database. It also has to do it on minimal hardware with utmost security.
My other comment is that what one distribution leads in today, will, in six months be in the others. We call that the open source benefit.
So, if you are happy with what you have, don't knock the alternative. Leslie Montreal
